Leadership Awards
Several of the ALF chapters recognize and celebrate regional and national leaders with an Exemplary Leader Award.
Each spring, the Mountain Valley Chapter honors a Sacramento-region leader who represents the cornerstones of ALF. The award recipient thinks and works regionally, values diversity, and is a successful collaborative leader. The annual dinner attracts the region’s decision- and opinion-makers to celebrate the award recipient’s accomplishments. Widely attended, the dinner celebrates leadership and the growing network of ALF members.
Since 1990, ALF – Silicon Valley has honored a select group of exceptional people from Silicon Valley and beyond at its Exemplary Leader Celebration. The Exemplary Leader Award honors individuals who model the boundary-crossing, collaborative servant leadership style that ALF promotes.
Beginning in 1994, ALF – Silicon Valley has presented the John W. Gardner Leadership Award to two Senior Fellows who best:
- Represent the spirit of ALF by inspiring and motivating other leaders to get involved;
- Take a networked approach for long lasting positive community impact;
- Serve as bridge builders between diverse community segments and leaders;
- Present track records as collaborative leaders who identify and deal with complex and difficult issues;
- Demonstrate ALF core values of diversity, inclusiveness, civility, engagement, and respect.
The ALF – Houston community has gathered annually since 1997 to honor leaders at its Joseph Jaworski Leadership Award Dinner, named for ALF’s founder. Since 2011, the ALF Public Service Award has also been presented to a leader from the nonprofit or public sector who exemplifies ALF’s mission of serving the common good.
More information on these awards is available on individual chapter websites.
